After sealing the free transfer of Tosin Adarabioyo from Fulham, the consensus is that Chelsea could still bring in another defender.

Veteran and fan favorite Thiago Silva left Stamford Bridge in a Bosman deal with boyhood club Fluminese, and while Tosin's arrival would do wonders to rectify that, Fabrizio Romano says another defensive ace could come in during the busy summer window.

“It won't be completely crazy but they will try to make some smart things happen, including a new goalkeeper and I expect them to try at least one centre-back, but maybe two.”

Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez, who will wear Hungary's jersey at Euro 2024, which starts on Friday, has been linked as an option for Maresca's squad. The 20-year-old played 28 league games for Bournemouth last season, catching the eye of England players, and Chelsea chiefs are believed to have been talking about signing Kerkez behind the scenes.

They also say that the defender has emerged as a top priority for them, amid speculation that he could cost around £35 million to prize him away from the Vitality Stadium. Kerkez has a growing reputation and performed very well last season, despite being a very young player performing at the highest level.

“Milos is a good guy. He's crazy, in a good way. He's always straight and smiling,” said teammate Matt Ryan.

“Hopefully he can improve a lot in England and grow even more. He is fierce, strong and has many qualities. A unique skill set. Bournemouth will be stronger because of him. Milos still has a great job ahead of him.”
