NHL Rumors: Jacob Slavin Will Get An Extension, Will Any Other Carolina Hurricanes?

Friedman: “Well, I think it will start with Jaccob Slavin. And Jaccob Slavin still has one year left on his contract, and a few weeks ago, when they were eliminated from the playoffs, you know, we were doing all these autopsies and talking about, you know, who's coming and who's going again. all free agents this year.

And somebody called me and said, You're not looking at a good boy. He says, I can assure you that the first thing the Hurricanes will do, they will take care of Slavin. Because he is, they consider him the best defenseman, one of their best players, a Cornerstone player, and he still has one year as a UFA.

And I have a feeling that they won't be able to sign an extension with him until July 1st, but I reported that it will happen. They will expand Slavin. They will do something about him. So it's not this year's work, but looking at their cap down for the future. They will take care of him.

Now some things they have to do, there is a different confidence in players like (Brett) Pesce and (Brady) Skjei. But I think the other one will be (Martin) Necas.
