When asked if he thinks his opponents can compete with him in the later rounds, the champion said, “I don't know until they get in there with me.” I've been around a long time, training since I was seven and competing since I was eight. It's second nature. It's about focus, making sure my mind is on the goal.”

Discussing the future following his win, Davis said: “The most important thing is I want to get back on the draw board, get back in the gym and stay focused. I felt rusty. All these guys are on my radar.”

Defeated Martin gave his thoughts on fighting Prime's Jim Gray. “I felt in control and relaxed a bit. I stopped making my moves and when I stopped making my moves he was able to shoot. He went in, shot a lot. I didn't see the gun.”

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT: A lightweight bout between Davis and IBF champion Vasiliy Lomachenko is in the works and could happen later in the year. Martin now needs to show how he bounces back from his first loss and rebuilds his way to another title shot.
