Liverpool transfer rumours

A new era at Liverpool begins this summer with Jurgen Klopp being replaced in the Anfield dugout by Arne Slot. The Reds finished 2023/24 as League Cup winners, but their Premier League form at the end of the campaign saw their title hopes dashed, with Manchester City and Arsenal the top two teams in the division for the second season in a row.

Anfield will complete their back line by welcoming the talented star.

Slot is now expected to have a busy summer on his hands as he looks to strengthen the Reds and put his stamp on a team that has been shaped by Klopp's vision for the past nine years. It has recently been said that five Premier League sides, including Liverpool, have contacted them to inquire about the availability of Japanese international player Takefusa Kubo.

Elsewhere, recent reports have suggested that Newcastle United's Yankuba Minteh, who spent last season on loan at Slot's Feyenoord, is a target for Liverpool, with the Magpies likely to need to sell him to comply with PSR guidelines. The Meresysiders have received another boost in their long-term pursuit of Atalanta midfielder Teun Koopemeiners as they look to revamp their squad.

It was also reported earlier this month that Liverpool have a strong interest in Lille defender Leny Yoro. And now, a new update has been given regarding the Reds' pursuit of a centre-back.

Yoro is a product of the French outfit and made 44 appearances last season as they finished 4th. After an impressive 2023/24 campaign from the 18-year-old, Lille boss Paulo Fonseca has been full of praise for Yoro and the defender's ability at such a young age.

“For me, players don't have age, they have quality,” he told BBC Sport in April. “Because here we don't have the power to buy the most expensive players, we find a way to raise young players.

“I believe Leny [Yoro] next year it will be at one of the best clubs in Europe. He started here at 16 with us. Ambitious, but disciplined. He's grown a lot but he's a mature kid, with great quality. He is very focused, very focused, he wants to learn every day and I have no doubt in modern football that he will be one of the best defenders in the world. ”

Now, however, Lille look set to have a battle on their hands when it comes to landing the youngster. This comes with reports on the continent [via Caught Offside] with Liverpool seeing a £42m bid rejected by Lille through a stoppage, the Ligue 1 side are expecting a price closer to £50m.

The Reds, Real Madrid, Manchester United and PSG are said to be interested in the youngster, whose favorite destination is believed to be the Spanish capital.
