Tyler Denny is set to challenge for the British and European titles against Nathan Heaney

CHEERFUL PLAYER Tyler Denny is eyeing bigger and more lucrative fights after defeating Felix Cash last night in Birmingham.

Denny (19-2-3, 1 KO) won by fifth-round technical decision following a cut by Cash, which was ruled an accidental headbutt. The victory saw the 32-year-old retain his European middleweight title in what was the biggest win of his career.

Denny, who is promoted by Boxxer, fought for promotion to Matchroom, which no doubt pleased his promoter, Ben Shalom, who was present at the Resorts World Arena to cheer on his boxer. Shalom revealed after the fight that Denny will return on the show scheduled for September 28.

“I have a lot to do because this is my first fight this year,” said Denny Debate News.

“I was supposed to fight at the end of February or the beginning of March and bids were made for money and because we lost money, we were left fighting when we fought for it until the end of June and we were not there. I'm not happy about that at the time and I think Felix needed as long as he wanted.”

As for who could be the next Wordsley-born southpaw it makes sense to know it won't be Chris Eubank Jr but he welcomes competition from someone closer to home.

“Do I think that will happen? Probably not. What I understand. If I'm Chris Eubank Jr, he's looking for big, pay-per-view fights so I'm not kidding but if this fight is available, I'll take it with my fans 100%.

While Denny is the European champion, one of his stable partners for BCB Promotions – Nathan Heaney – is a current British middleweight. Heaney first has to defeat Brad Pauls for a second time at the asking on July 20 after the pair drew their first meeting in March.

“I'd fight Heaney any time,” said Denny.

“I love him, but if we eat a lot of money, he can get a lot of money, I can get a lot of money, we can do that to fight 100%. But he has to fight Brad Pauls again first so I don't want to throw insults at Brad Pauls because they fought well first but like I said, I will continue with Nathan but if we can put the British and European titles. line, then 100%.
