Chelsea could be looking for their biggest sale since Hazard

To say that Todd Boehly's first few years as owner of Chelsea Football Club have been eventful would be an understatement.

Now that they have their fourth manager in charge, Thomas Tuchel who won the Champions League became Graham Potter then Mauricio Pochettino and then Enzo Maresca.

The show covers several seasons of Doctor Who. An ongoing episode of regeneration has engulfed Stamford Bridge and who knows how long Maresca will last.

There's no match action yet – that's where the Italian will really be judged – but off the pitch, it looks like the Blues have their ducks in a row.

They have signed Brazilian Estevao Willian, who are in the process of signing Omari Kellyman and are considering a striker. Meanwhile, Jonathan David seems to be of the day, as there have been discussions with Canadian forwards.

However, we all know with Chelsea now that given their spending levels, the PSR rules must be followed. So, selling a few players can do the trick.

Who is leaving Chelsea this summer

The Brazilian, Thiago Silva, has already left the club on a free transfer while rumors are swirling that Kepa Arrizabalaga could leave again.

Ian Maatsen will soon leave west London for the Midlands where the Champions League finalist will join Aston Villa.

There is also the future of Conor Gallagher to talk about. The England international would represent a pure asset from an FFP point of view and has been linked with the aforementioned big-money moves to Villa and Tottenham. Now at Euro 2024, that won't be resolved anytime soon.

He has been slapped for £50m, which would strengthen Chelsea's financial situation but he is no slouch when it comes to their expected transfer fee.

The England international enjoyed a breakout campaign with the Seagulls in 2022/23 and despite an interrupted last season he showed why he has the tools to be a top-class full-back.

Able to play in central defense and at left back, the 21-year-old's versatility is one of the most attractive aspects of his game. That modern forward-thinking approach also helps a lot.

Indeed, last year, the young defender ranked among the top 4% of defenders in Europe's top divisions for aerials won per 90 minutes. A sharp head of the ball, Colwill is also good at handling the ball.

Only 5% of defenders in Europe's big five leagues can boast of completing a pass better than average. Only 7%, meanwhile, play mostly through balls from center backs.

And with great leadership skills, there is a future captain to be had there, a trait that according to some reports makes him untouchable in the transfer market.

Bayern Munich are said to be interested but Chelsea, surprisingly, are not interested in a sale.

But let's say they are tempted to separate if a big gift is given. How much would it take for them to say 'yes go ahead'?

However, according to The Athletic, they are now valuing Colwill at a whopping £100m.

If any club pays that would make him the most expensive defender in the future, you guessed it, Manchester United's Harry Maguire.

Such a move would also surpass the astonishing fee they earned Eden Hazard when he joined Real Madrid.

The Belgian is now retired and in fact, just appeared at the Bridge during Soccer Aid.

However, with his brilliance, he was one of the best foreign players we have seen in the Premier League.

Hazard scored 110 goals and registered 85 assists in 352 Chelsea appearances, cementing himself as a legend in the process.

Such a run of form, which also saw him win two Europa Leagues, an FA Cup and two Premier League titles, meant that Madrid came calling, paying an initial £88.3m fee before a huge sum of add-ons were included.

So, if Chelsea move Colwill forward in the near future it could be a record departure for the club. Their fans will be praying that another situation with Hazard will not happen again, especially since the continent's stars are sniffing around this promising defender.
