Leicester are in a prime position to land a Euro 2024 midfielder

Leicester City and Southampton are set to go head-to-head in the transfer market in a bid to sign Slovenian midfielder Timi Elsnik, a former Derby County player.

Scouts have been watching Elsnik, 26, at Euro 2024 as he helped Slovenia to draws with Denmark, Serbia and England.

The Daily Mail claim that Lazio and Lyon have been chasing him, but Southampton and Leicester, two teams recently promoted from the Premier League, are the most likely to pay the £5.5 million price tag.

After starting his career with Derby County, Elsnik now plays for Olympia Ljubljana in his native Slovenia.

Leicester City are interested in the Euro 2024 midfielder from Slovenia.

He played a major role when Slovenia drew 0-0 with England until Group C was eliminated and ensured that both teams qualified.

He was a member of the two-man field in that game, which had the difficult task of containing Jude Bellingham.

This player has done very well and now he may be heading to English football to join the former Premier League champions, Leicester City.

Leicester should go ahead with a move for Elsnik

After losing manager Enzo Maresca to Chelsea, the Foxes have endured a difficult summer.

They are determined to invest in their squad to maintain their Premier League status beyond next season.

Signing the Slovenian midfielder is a no-brainer because the player's price is reasonable.
