Golf Business News – Conservationists attend Joint ICL and Syngenta Education Day at Royal Birkdale

Conservationists recently attended a joint ICL and Syngenta Education Day at Royal Birkdale Golf Club where the agenda included a course tour led by course manager Sean McLean, which gave attendees the opportunity to see preparations underway for The Open Championship in 2026.

The event also featured a number of keynote presentations focusing on key grass management topics.

Agronomist Henry Bechelet, Technical Manager of ICL, presented on the benefits of controlled release fertilizers (CRFs). He explained how CRFs improve turf health and sustainability by delivering precise nutrients, ensuring the turf receives essential nutrients at the right time and in the right amount.

Glenn Kirby, Technical Manager of EAME Sports Turf and Landscape at Syngenta, led a discussion on managing the Dollar Spot. He highlighted practical strategies and AIM's strategy for integrated disease management, giving greenkeepers valuable insight into combating this persistent turf disease.

Rob Ainscough, Technical Area Sales Manager from ICL, discussed the benefits of Turf Rewards. He explained how conservationists can earn points by purchasing eligible ICL and Syngenta products. These points can be redeemed for multiple rewards, including the latest turf care technology and professional development courses for their team.

An Education Day at Royal Birkdale provided groundskeepers with practical knowledge and techniques to improve grassland management.
