Kelly Oubre Jr.'s Accident Under Internal Police Investigation

Kelly Oubre Jr. caused a car accident earlier in the week and now an internal police investigation has been launched due to suspicious circumstances, TMZ reports.

Oubre made the red light in Philadelphia on Monday night following the Sixers' Game 2 loss to the Knicks.

The suspect, 28, hit a 2023 Hyundai Elantra with the purple Lamborghini he was traveling in and both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.

Fortunately, no one was hurt, but the police who came to the scene may need to provide answers.

“TMZ Sports has learned – PPD's Internal Affairs Unit is looking into the handling of Monday night's crash involving Oubre and another driver … specifically the response and actions of officers while on the scene.”

“…Despite law enforcement saying Oubre committed a traffic violation, he was not ticketed … and was not given a breathalyzer or blood test to determine how much alcohol or drugs were under the influence.”

The outlet went on to conclude that it appears “PPD is now trying to determine if Oubre received any special treatment at the scene … due to his status as a top athlete in the area.”

Despite the crash, Oubre played in Game 3 of the first-round playoff series against the Knicks and spoke about the injury afterward.

“Everything is going well,” Oubre told reporters Thursday night. “I'm fine. The people involved are fine. I need to maybe get a driver or something and just get off the streets, (not) be behind the wheel. But everything is fine. I was still able to do my job, take care of my family and things are going well.”

It might be wise for Oubre to stay off the road at this point, given his second accident since signing with Philly.
