NHL Rumors: The Philadelphia Flyers could have an interesting offseason

The Philadelphia Flyers will be looking at the trade and free agent market

Charlie O'Connor: Philadelphia Flyers manager Daniel Briere said he does not expect defenseman Marc Staal or forward Denis Gurianov to return next season.

Anthony Di Marco of the Fourth Period: The Philadelphia Flyers rebuild continues and they have some good young pieces in place going forward. They held a playoff spot for the better part of the season but struggled.

The Flyers lack top talent and are thin in the middle of their entire organization. They have two first and second rounds this year and next. They will see what is available in the free agent and trade market.

NHL Rumors: Avs, Blues, Red Wings, Penguins, Wild, Flyers, Kraken, Blue Jackets, Ducks, and Panthers

Don't expect the Flyers to ship too many players in their 20s. Interestingly, they have been linked to Ottawa Senators defenseman Jakob Chychrun. It makes sense to work with Jamie Drysdale. There are considerations about his injury history and it would take new players to get him and he would need a big contract extension.

Although he won't be available, 24-year-old Buffalo Sabers defenseman Mattias Samuelsson could make sense. He has six years left at $4.29 million.

Can't believe a Sean Walker reunion is going to happen. He can probably get more on the open market.

Flyers will check available facilities. Don't expect them to go after Trevor Zegras.

Don't think the Flyers are buying out Joel Farabee with four years remaining at $5 million each but they will be exploring all options. The Flyers won't just give away Morgan Frost, who has been available all season.

NHL Rumors: Philadelphia Flyers – Morgan Frost, Joel Farabee, and Cam Atkinson

Keys to the Philadelphia Flyers offseason

ESPN's Ryan S. Clark and Kristen Shilton:

Estimated space for 2024-25: $2,186,072
2024 draft picks: 1, 1st (FLA), 2nd (compensation), 2nd (CBJ), 3rd, 5th (LA), 5th (VGK), 6th, 6th (STL), 7th

The Flyers will be looking at the goaltending market this offseason with Carter Hart out for good.

The Flyers have limited salary cap space, but they aren't the biggest free agents that can be re-signed. Additions can appear from within as they have certain opportunities that are worth a shot.
