Endrick spoke during his Real Madrid presentation about how it was a dream come true due to his long-standing love for the club he has now joined.
The Brazilian, who moved to the Bernabeu nearly two years ago, was in awe when he pulled on the all-white kit for the first time and revealed why this was something he had wanted since he was a little boy.
“I didn't plan to cry, but I loved Real Madrid since I was young because someone came into my life: Cristiano Ronaldo,” said Endrick.
“It is because of him that I became interested in Real Madrid. I looked at all the idols long ago, including [Emilio] Butragueno. I have always been in love with Real Madrid. Playing for Real Madrid is amazing and tears come from my soul. I hope we can make history together.”
Ronaldo scored 450 goals in just 438 games for Madrid between 2009 and 2018, defining the era of modern football and redefining the standards by which 'world class' is judged.
Endrick was not yet three years old when Ronaldo joined Madrid making history from Manchester United. But, growing up at home in Taguatinga, the classy Ronaldo was well placed to be the first young footballer to know him.
There will be competition for places from the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo next season, but Endrick, who was handed Madrid's number 16 shirt last time by Alvaro Odriozola, has no intention of leaving immediately on loan to command more game time.
“As I said, I've been in love with Real Madrid since I was young and I wanted to be here. It was my dream and I didn't care about anything else,” he said.
“I asked my father if Real Madrid was in talks and I told him that I don't care about any other team. I hope to spend the rest of my career at Real Madrid.”
