West Ham's defense struck after Liverpool's 2-2 draw

Former West Ham player Frank McAvennie slammed the Hammers defender after the 2-2 draw with Liverpool on Saturday afternoon.

The Hammers ended the Reds' title hopes at the London Stadium when they drew 2-2 with Jurgen Klopp's men.

It was the home side who took the lead just before the break with Jarrod Bowen scoring a rare header after Alisson had pushed his shot into the corner seconds later.

But that lead was short-lived as Andy Robertson equalized moments later before Alphonse Areola's goal put the visitors ahead for the first time.

But Michail Antonio leveled the competition with his header and both teams split the points.

West Ham's defense under fire

A former West Ham man, McAvennie was unhappy with his team's performance in the back four, calling them 'bad'.

“I don't know where the results will come from. I don't see them getting anything. I hope I'm wrong, but I think Zouma and the other midfielders just got worse,” he told West Ham Zone.

“They brought Cresswell back and he was terrible, they brought Johnson and I can't believe he's there, I can't believe he's a professional footballer.”

As they face Chelsea and Manchester City, the games are not going to be easy for the Hammers as they try to finish strong in a disappointing campaign.
