Jack Catterall also endured delays in his career.
This time, it's a top-ranked junior welterweight contender that caused the scheduled fight to be delayed. An undisclosed injury forced England's Catterall to cancel his bout with two-time 140-pound champion Regis Prograis.
The pair were due to meet on August 24 at Co-op Live in Manchester. Two sources familiar with the situation were notified A ring that the war will now take place in October.
The status of the planned undercard was not immediately clear. Among the fights in limbo, Rhiannon Dixon (10-0, 1 KO) was supposed to defend her WBO 135-pound title against former two-division belt holder Terri Harper (14-2-2, 6 KOs).

It's a conundrum for Catterll, who has spent more than two years waiting for a rematch with former RING/Undisputed champion Josh Taylor. Their snakebit streak saw several delays before they finally met on May 25. Catterll (29-1, 13 knockouts) won by unanimous decision, 27 months after losing a controversial decision in their Feb. 2 championship bout. 2022.
Catteral sought to make up for lost time and immediately moved forward with his work. Ring's No. 4-rated junior welterweight has agreed to a minor layoff to face Prograis (29-2, 24 KOs) this summer.
Those plans are still on hold for another 6-8 weeks, although those involved don't seem worried about the situation.
“This just leaves me a lot of time to get stronger and better,” said Prograis, No. 8 of 140 by The Ring. “Go back to the instrument room.”

Prograis has held two titles at 140. He won the WBA belt in April 2019 defeating Kyril Relikh in Lafayette, Louisiana.
The incident took place two hours from Prograis' hometown of New Orleans but his reign ended on the other side of the Atlantic. Prograis dropped Taylor a majority decision at their October 2019 World Boxing Super Series final in London.
Five wins followed, including a Nov. 11 round exit. 2022 by Jose Zepeda to win the WBC 140-pound belt. Prograis made one defense, a decision victory over Danielto Zorrilla last June 17 in New Orleans. The reign ended with a twelve round loss to Devin Haney (31-0, 15 KOs; 1 NC) last Dec. 9 in San Francisco, California.
Catterll has fought just three times since losing to Taylor. Four separate delays kept him out of the ring for 13 months before a decision victory over Darragh Foley last May. Catterll then outpointed former three-rounder Jorge Linares last October before his victory over Taylor in May.
