Sick Shmiedlova Makes History for Slovakia at the Paris Olympics

Anna Karolina Schmiedlova he makes history for himself and his country at the Paris Olympics.
The 29-year-old knocked them both out of the 2024 Wimbledon final in his potential run to the semi-finals, where he became the first Slovakian to reach an Olympic semi-final since Miloslav Mecir in 1988.
Schmiedlova is ranked 67th and is the first woman from Slovakia to reach the semifinals of the Olympics.

Schmiedlova had only one Top-10 finish in her career before these Olympics. He has tripled that number in his last two rounds. All three of his Top 10 wins came at the Olympics. It is tied for 0-11 in the Top-10 otherwise.

“The best game of my life [at] the Olympics, for my country and the people around me. It's a big thing. It's amazing for me and it means a lot,” said Schmiedlova, according to the ITF.
