Now Terri Harper will get a home game for her next title bid.
Former undefeated WBO 135-pound champion Rhiannon Dixon has a new date and venue. Their fight will now take place on September 28 at the Utilita Arena in Sheffield, England.
Matchroom Boxing confirmed the incident on Thursday. Dixon-Harper was previously scheduled to appear on the August 24 Jack Catterall-Regis Prograis card at Co-op Live in Manchester, England. That event was postponed for at least two months after Catterll (29-1, 13 knockouts) suffered a rib injury during training camp.
The title fight will now support the Dalton Smith-Jon Fernandez EBU junior welterweight title fight.
Dixon (10-0, 1 KO) will try to defend the belt he won earlier this year for the first time. She featured Karen Elizabeth Carabajal (22-2, 3 KOs) in their April 13 vacant title fight at the nearby AO Arena.
The southpaw, 29, from Warrington The Ring's No. 3-rated lightweight.
Harper (14-2-2, 6 KOs) returns home, although on the local arena he has produced mixed results for his career.
He came up short in his previous campaign to be listed in three categories. The 27-year-old from Denaby Main was stopped in the fourth round by WBO welterweight Sandy Ryan (7-1-1, 3 KOs) on March 23 at the same venue.
This fight marked his debut at welterweight after holding the WBA 154-pound title. Harper vacated the belt after a ten-round draw against former welterweight champion Cecilia Brækhus last October.
His title challenge to Dixon marks Harper's third consecutive fight at the Utilita Arena and the sixth of his career. She won her first major title in the area, a February 2020 decision over Eva Wahlstrom for the WBC 130-pound title. Two successful defenses followed before his Nov. 1 loss. 2021 to Alycia Baumgardner (15-1, 7 KOs), also on this site.
Harper also held the WBC 130-pound title. He is currently the No. 1 ranked junior middleweight in The Ring.
