As the quality of foreign players has improved over time, Team USA has faced an increasing number of international stars.

When USA Basketball first sent NBA players to the Olympic Games, only seven NBA players participated. This year, 43 non-American NBA players competed in the Olympic tournament. That's how great the progress has been.
