NHL Rumors: The Pittsburgh Penguins, and the Seattle Kraken

The Pittsburgh Penguins didn't get the secondary points they needed

Dan Kingerski of Pittsburgh Hockey Now: The Pittsburgh Penguins didn't get the scoring in the top six as they expected from players like Rickard Rakell and Reilly Smith.

Should the Penguins look to move Rakell? Maybe not. He can play both sides and has scored 28 goals and put up 60 points in the past. Those were his numbers when he was healthy last year. For most of this year, he wore shoulder braces.

NHL Rumors: Pittsburgh Penguins – Alex Nedeljkovic, and Sidney Crosby

The Seattle Kraken have some assets and cap space to take advantage of before the draft and free agency

Alison Lukan: Seattle Kraken GM Ron Francis when asked if they are nearing a point where they could look to trade prospects or draft picks to improve their NHL roster.

Francis said they have selected 28 in the past three programs and currently nine have been selected this year.

“So, I'm not saying we're going to trade them all, but I'm also not saying we're going to write them all. We will certainly look to use some of that draft money if we can, similar to what we did in the first season with Bjorkstrand. If something makes our team better, we're happy to do that.

NHL Rumors: Carolina Hurricanes and Seattle Kraken

We're going to look at all angles and the beauty is we have cap space, so we're going to look at free agents; we will look at possible trades with other teams, very similar to what we did in the first year. We have capital, as we've talked about before, to throw those into deals and move things. We are not afraid to do something if the right person is there to help us be more successful. It is important that we get back on the winning streak, and the aim is to get back to the qualifiers next year.”
