Fulham have made a move for Scott McTominay after Man Utd rejected a bid

Fulham have pulled out of their pursuit of Manchester United star Scott McTominay after a £20m bid was rejected.

The player from Scotland scored seven goals in the Premier League last season, and also hit the Red Devils in trouble. He also started the FA Cup final, helping his team to a 2-1 win over rivals Manchester City at Wembley.

However, he has attracted interest from a variety of clubs during the summer transfer window. Turkish giants Galatasaray have previously expressed their interest in the 27-year-old, while Fulham have made two bids as they look to strengthen the middle of the park following Joao Palhinha's exit from Bayern Munich.

The Cottagers will end their interest in McTominay, however, after seeing their latest bid of £20m rejected, according to The Times. United value the Scotland international, who has made 252 appearances in all competitions since making his debut in 2017, at £30m.

The English under-20 champions currently have the likes of Casemiro, Kobbie Mainoo, Mason Mount and Christian Eriksen available as midfield options and have been linked with similar players in the summer.

United have been in talks with Paris Saint-Germain, who recently splashed out €70 million for Portugal star Joao Neves, to sign Uruguay defender Manuel Ugarte. However, the high asking price made the Premier League outfit return to negotiations and pursue other targets.

Manager Erik ten Hag is still interested in a double deal for Bayern defenders Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui, the Bundesliga club's sporting director recently gave a confidential update on the saga.

United have completed their tour of the United States, defeating Real Betis in between losses to English rivals Arsenal and Liverpool, and will next play on Saturday when they face Man City in the Community Shield.
