Brazil faced a very difficult road to the gold medal game at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The Selecao was drawn in a tough Group C with Spain, Japan, and Nigeria, and had to face France and Spain in the knockout round without Marta. However, Arthur Elias' squad defied that and beat two favorites to win the tournament, and book a place in the women's football final.

The US Women's National Team, on the other hand, came into the tournament with high expectations of bringing home a record fifth gold medal, the first since 2012. The USWNT remains unbeaten in the 2024 Paris Olympics, winning all five of its games. and conceding just two goals on the way. Now, the final test for the Stars and Stripes will be against Brazil at the Parc des Princes.

Martha

For the first time since the group stage, Brazil will once again have their captain in the first stage. Marta has been handed her two-match suspension after being sent off against Spain for a dangerous high boot on Olga, and will play her final Olympic match to secure a gold medal.

Despite the injuries to Tamires, Rafaelle and Antonia, the Selecao have only conceded two goals in their last two matches against France and Spain. However, Lauren was eliminated from the field in the semi-finals, and it would be a big risk if she is not ready for the finals.

Brazil predicted to face the United States (4-4-2): Lorraine; Ferreira, Lauren, Tarciane, Ribeiro; da Silva, Yaya, Sampaio, Marta; Jennifer, Portilho

After missing the United States' matches against Australia and Japan, Tierna Davidson returned to the starting XI alongside Naomi Girma in the semi-finals. The center back only played the first 45 minutes, but his performance boded well for the USWNT's backline heading into the gold medal game.

Expect the rest of Emma Hayes' XI to remain unchanged, despite a poor performance from Lindsey Horan against Germany. Rose Lavelle should also be ready to go on Saturday after playing just 60 minutes in the last game to make up for the knock he suffered in the quarter-finals.

United States predicted to face Brazil (4-3-3): Naeher; Fox, Girma, Davidson, Dunn; Lavelle, Horan, Coffey; Rodman, Swanson, Smith

Brazil proved the doubters wrong and had a great chance to bookend their summer in France with Marta's gold medal. They played well against France and Spain, but the United States will be another big test for the Selecao. Emma Hayes' squad have the best back line in the entire competition, and are arguably the best front three.

If Trinity Rodman, Sophia Smith, and Mallory Swanson continue their current form, no one will be able to stop the USWNT from winning a fifth gold medal.

Prediction: Brazil 1-2 United States
