The latest on Kevin Durant's status for the 2028 Olympics

Kevin Durant should be considered as a possible candidate for Team USA at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, according to ESPN's Brian Windhorst.

That's despite the fact that Durant will be 39 years old when the Olympics begin in LA.

“I wouldn't rule out KD not playing, and I talked to Team USA officials, and they gave him a temporary yes right now,” Bran Windhorst said on Monday's episode of The Hoop Collective (49:50 mark).

Meanwhile, Durant himself didn't give much away when asked if he could play in 2028.

“We will see,” he told reporters on Saturday.

We probably won't know for sure whether or not Durant will play until the months leading up to the 2028 Olympics. But it's not hard to see the appeal of fitness.

Durant and the rest of Team USA clearly had the time of their lives playing together in Paris.

KD also has a chance to extend his legendary status as the all-time leading scorer for the United States, as the nation's leader in scoring and gold medals.

Then again, maybe he'll feel like there's nothing left for him to accomplish. Only time will tell.
