Newcastle have made the first-team player available for transfer in a £15m deal

Newcastle United are reportedly preparing to sell one of their players as they look to finance Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi.

The Magpies are keen to sign the England international this summer as Eddie Howe aims to add depth and quality to his squad, particularly in defence.

However, a move to bring Geuhi to the club will cost the Magpies a record fee, on top of what they paid to sign Alexander Isak.

One of the players for sale is defender Matt Targett, according to the NUFC Blog, who has struggled at St James' Park due to fitness issues.

After the arrivals of Lewis Hall and Lloyd Kelly at the club, he has fallen down the pecking order and the Magpies want to cash in on him.

He joined the club from Aston Villa back in 2022 in a £15m move but his transfer did not work out as Newcastle United had hoped.

It is reported that Targett earns a lot of money from Newcastle and it would be difficult to find someone to buy him.

That is also the reason why Newcastle are looking to offload him this summer as they want his huge salary to come out of their wage bill.

Along with Target, Martin Dubravka, Ryan Fraser, Isaac Hayden and Jamal Lewis also face uncertain futures at the club and the Magpies are ready to let all of these players leave the club and make room for Guehi in their squad.
