Aston Villa are now keeping tabs on the 6 foot 4 midfielder who is wanted by Emery

While many of Aston Villa's summer arrivals will make an immediate impact on Unai Emery's side, the Villans are now reportedly eyeing a future star with room to develop under the Spaniard.

Aston Villa transfer news

The Midlands side were among the most successful of the summer transfer window, signing the likes of Amadou Onana, Jaden Philogene, Ian Maatsen and Ross Barkley to make the most of their Champions League status. As the season progresses, Villa should have higher ambitions than ever in the Premier League.

Emery's team shocked the whole of England by entering the Champions League last week and now they will want to send another shock by making it back to the top four. Establishing themselves as a European side would undoubtedly be crucial in their pursuit of the gem.

Atletico Madrid have also made an offer.

According to HITC's Graeme Bailey, Aston Villa are keeping tabs on Jens Hjerto-Dahl and have sent scouts to watch the 18-year-old from Tromso alongside interest from Liverpool, Everton and Borussia Dortmund.

With the hot pursuit of the 6 foot 4 youngster, Villa will be hoping their project under Emery serves as a key selling point. Hjerto-Dahl, meanwhile, could face the biggest decision of his career so far before the summer transfer window closes in a few weeks.

Hjerto-Dahl belongs to the future

It speaks volumes that Hjerto-Dahl has attracted a host of European giants, making it all the more important that Aston Villa land what could be an impressive coup. His stature, alone, makes the midfielder interesting to watch, especially if his future includes partnering Onana at the heart of Emery's side.

The most important thing is that the youngster has an eye on the goal as he scored four from midfield last season. Combined with Onana's physical ability, Villa could turn on their response in the middle of the park for years to come.

Belgian midfielder Amadou Onana

Aston Villa is the place to be for young players these days, given their current rise. Whether Hjerto-Dahl decides to be a part of that remains to be seen, however.

The Villans have shown over the past two years that they can compete with some of Europe's best on and off the pitch, qualifying for the Champions League and signing the likes of Onana. Now, they can prove that again by signing future star Hjerto-Dahl.
