Mallorca vs Real Madrid: Preview, predictions and schedule

Real Madrid begin their defense of the La Liga title when they visit RCD Mallorca in their first home game of the campaign.

Carlo Ancelotti's side have already secured their first piece of silverware of the season when Kylian Mbappe scored on his debut in a 2-0 win over Atalanta in the UEFA Super Cup. A sixth win in the competition, a sign of things to come in what could be a trophy-laden campaign at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Los Blancos won La Liga last season but could be put under more pressure from rivals Barcelona and Atletico Madrid this season, with the former now under Hansi Flick. However, the addition of Mbappe to an already star-studded squad does not give much hope to their rivals.

Mallorca could be Madrid's direct opponents in their first game. The Palma side avoided relegation by seven points last season and lost both of their meetings with the champions, although both were 1-0 defeats.

Here it is 90 min Real Madrid vs Mallorca clash guide.

Mallorca are expected to be without 19-year-old winger Javi Llabres for the trip to Madrid but have otherwise boasted a clean bill of health following a fine pre-season campaign.

Three of the club's summer signings – Johan Mojica, Takuma Asano and Mateu Morey – could start at the weekend, with Morey a former Barcelona academy product.

Mallorca predicted to face Real Madrid (4-5-1): Roman; Morey, Raillo, Copete, Mojica; Larin, Morlanes, Mascarell, Darder, Asano; Muriqi.

Ancelotti is likely to name the same team that defeated Atalanta in the UEFA Super Cup, with only David Alaba and Eduardo Camavinga missing. They ended up with a knee injury in training and will miss the start of the new campaign.

The fearsome triumvirate of Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo and Mbappe will lead the line, with Jude Bellingham pulling the strings in deep.

Real Madrid predicted to face Mallorca (4-3-3): Courtois; Carvajal, Militao, Rudiger, Mendy; Valverde, Tchouameni, Bellingham; Rodrygo, Mbappe, Vinicius.

After a convincing win over Europa League champions Atalanta in midweek, Madrid should have no problem dispatching a relegation-fighting Mallorca side this season. A dangerous front three from the capital's side will be looking at hatred in Palma.

Real also boast one of the strongest defenses in world football, boosted by the return of Thibaut Courtois between the sticks. With an active and talented player as well, Mallorca has no real chance against this Real Madrid machine.

Prediction: Mallorca 0-3 Real Madrid
