Man Utd 're-entering talks with Premier League club' over midfielder's sale

Manchester United are reportedly back in talks with Fulham over a contract for midfielder Scott McTominay ahead of the summer. to transfer deadline.

McTominay scored ten goals in all competitions last season, making him the club's third top scorer in 2023/24. But the Scot remains a team player.

West Ham United made a £30m bid last summer which was rejected.

Fulham have been the club most keen to sign McTominay this year, with two bids of up to £20m both rejected so far.

That was in early August, though Sky Sports News' Dharmesh Sheth has now reported that negotiations have reopened. Fulham were not expected to make further contact with McTominay unless there was a willingness from Old Trafford to negotiate the club's asking price, which is rumored to be as high as £30m.

But the Cottagers have now been promised an improved bid if the revived negotiations are successful.

Fulham have so far signed Ryan Sessegnon, Emile Smith Rowe and Jorge Cuenca this summer, apart from replacing Joao Palhinha, who was sold to Bayern Munich for over £42m. McTominay wouldn't represent something like this but he is a defensive midfielder.

Another club showing great interest in McTominay in recent weeks is Napoli. The 2022/23 Serie A champions were reportedly in talks but wanted a loan deal on a permanent deal, while United's asking price was also thought to be out of reach.

McTominay made his United debut in 2017 under Jose Mourinho and has been a strong member of the first team under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. So far, he has made 254 appearances, scoring 29 goals, but both of his outings so far in 2024/25 have been as substitutes.
