NBA insider Shams Charania has decided to leave the field after six years away from the field, according to multiple reports. Charania, now 30, hosted the weekly “Inside the Association” show on Sports Stadium and appeared regularly on its daily show, “The Rally.”
Charania also played tentpole games surrounding the NBA draft and free agency. This has helped the site grow its audience across all social media platforms. AT&T and State Farm sponsored content during Charania's time on the stage.
Charania's attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Charania's deals with The Athletic and FanDuel TV are also coming, according to the team's Ryan Glasspiegel. Charania currently serves as Senior NBA Insider for The Athletic. From 2015 to 2018, Shams was a national NBA Insider for Yahoo Sports.
Additionally, Charania began his sports writing career at age 17 covering the Chicago Bulls for ChicagoNow, a subsidiary of Chicago Tribune.
In 2012, Charania began writing for RealGM and reporting on NBA team transactions across the league. The Chicago native grew up in Wilmette, Illinois, and attended New Trier High School. He also graduated from Loyola University Chicago.
