Man Utd predicted to face Brighton

Manchester United will be aiming to make it two out of two on Saturday when they face Brighton in the Premier League.

An 87th-minute winner from summer manager Joshua Zirkzee earned the Red Devils a 1-0 victory over Fulham in the first game of the 2024/25 Premier League season, and Erik ten Hag will be hoping for a more satisfying and less shocking victory. at Amex Stadium this weekend.

The Dutch coach has struggled with injuries this season but the arrival of a number of summer signings gives him options when it comes to choosing his starting XI on the south coast.

Here's how Man Utd could face Brighton.

Matthijs de Ligt

GK: Andre Onana – No mistakes by the keeper who likes to fumble against Fulham and even got himself a good clean sheet. He may undergo multiple tests this weekend.

RB: Noussair Mazraoui – Able to play either side, Mazraoui was slotted at right back against Fulham on his debut. The Moroccan will be given a different and more difficult challenge by Kaoru Mitoma on Saturday.

CB: Matthijs de Ligt – Man Utd's defender's injury problem has hampered their 2023/24 season but De Ligt should be a reliable provider at the heart of the back line after his move from Bayern Munich.

CB: Lisandro Martinez – The diminutive Argentine will be tested by the likes of Danny Welbeck and Joao Pedro but has often proved a consistent and dominant defender for Man Utd.

LB: Diogo Dalot – The Portuguese scored in this game on the final day of last season and is likely to operate at left back – as he did when he netted at the Amex in May.

CM: Casemiro – After a disastrous 2023/24 season, the Brazilian looked sharp in Man Utd's first game against Fulham. He must find a way to maintain those levels week in and week out as the Red Devils hit the market for a defensive midfielder.

CM: Kobbie Mainoo – Mainoo is back in the Man Utd XI in the Community Shield after an impressive 2023/24 season and Euro 2024 campaign. An incredible asset for the Red Devils whenever he steps on the pitch.

RW: Alejandro Garnacho – Amad Diallo got the nod against Fulham but was subbed off after an hour, with Garnacho perhaps brought back into the starting line-up on the right wing. However, he will want to put the latest painful miss behind him.

AM: Bruno Fernandes – The captain played a false nine role against Fulham in the absence of Rasmus Hojlund but could return to his preferred number 10. A little bit of rust saw him miss some great opportunities on the first day of the match.

LW: Marcus Rashford – Confidence continues to drop from the electric winger, who was unable to open Man Utd. Getting the best out of Rashford is the Ten Hag's biggest challenge this term.

ST: Joshua Zirkzee – The Dutchman came off the bench determined to play against the Cottagers, scoring the winning goal just 25 minutes into his game. Although he needs time to adjust and get up to speed, Hojlund's injury means he has to start at the Amex.
