The Red Sox announced that they have designated the left-hander's contract Joely Rodríguez. The right hand Greg Weissert Optioned to Triple-A Worcester in concurrent roster move. Opening a 40-man roster spot, left James Paxton was transferred to the 60-day disabled list. Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic was one of those who relayed the move to X.
