“It will definitely happen” – Pundit advises Liverpool on transfer intent

Former Crystal Palace player Clinton Morrison has said Liverpool target Marc Guehi will join Newcastle United before the transfer window closes.

Guehi has been linked with a move away from Selhurst Park throughout the summer with Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle United all eyeing him.

Not only did he stand out for Palace but his performance in England at Euro 2024 was already outstanding and he was one of their best players in the tournament.

According to the Express report, this England defender is being watched by Liverpool but it is Newcastle who are making a big effort to sign this player.

The Magpies have seen four bids rejected for the Palace defender but Morrison feels Guehi will be a Newcastle United player soon.

He told Sky Sports:

“He will be at Newcastle next week, 100%.

“Marc Guehi will be a Newcastle player next week. I think it will happen. It will definitely happen. That's my opinion – 100% it will happen. They are not miles apart.

Liverpool target Marc Guehi has been tipped for a move to Newcastle United.

“That's Eddie Howe's number 1, he didn't have anyone else in mind. He said on his board, 'go get Marc Guehi'. He has two years left at Palace. Trying to get something like £70m for Marc Guehi, I think he would be very good.”

Liverpool were due to sign a new defender this summer

The England defender would be the perfect partner for Virgil Van Dijk at Anfield, but it looks like Arne Slot will have to wait a little longer for his first signing at the club.

Slot's defense has been weakened by the departures of Joel Matip and Sepp van den Berg while Joe Gomez also faces an uncertain future at the club.

With question marks over Ibrahima Konate's fitness, the new defender should have been Liverpool's priority in the summer transfer window.

Guehi would solve all their problems but Newcastle appear to be winning the race to sign the former Chelsea defender.
