Everton are in talks with Chelsea over a loan deal for David Datro Fofana

Everton are looking to replace Neal Maupay and have held talks with Chelsea regarding a loan deal for David Datro Fofana according to reports.

It's been a tough start to the season for the Toffees and they've been beaten convincingly in their opening two games against Brighton and Tottenham.

Sean Dyche's side have had a quiet summer, despite losing midfielder Amadou Onana, but are thought to be able to make a deal or two ahead of Friday's deadline.

Everton hold talks for Datro Fofana

Goals can be a problem for Everton and they have only scored one goal in their first two games.

Doubts remain over Dominic Calvert-Lewin's future, but TEAMtalk have reported that Everton are looking to make a move for Maupay and Chelsea's Datro Fofana.

The report adds that Everton have already held talks with the striker over a loan deal that does not include an option to buy.

Datro Fofana is one of the players the Blues want to move on before the end of the transfer window.

Everton could be where Datro Fofana is headed.

The 21-year-old, who joined Chelsea in January 2023, has only played four games for the club and was on loan last season with Union Berlin and Burnley.

The striker scored four goals in 15 games for the Clarets and is expected to attract Leicester City.

The Ivory Coast international is not the only Chelsea striker Everton are interested in and the Toffees are believed to be interested in Armando Broja, but they reportedly need to raise the funds to fund the deal.

Everton's financial situation makes it difficult for them to move in the transfer market and the club will be hoping to avoid relegation this season.

It is important for the Toffees to stay in the Premier League as this is their last season at Goodison Park before moving to their new stadium.
