Arsenal plan deadline day move for 'unbelievable' £34m star like Saka

The clock is now ticking down on the end of the transfer window, and while they have had all summer to do their business, some of the fans feel that Arsenal have not done enough.

Edu Gaspar and Co have sold well in the last month or so, with Emile Smith Rowe going to Fulham for up to £34m, Aaron Ramsdale on his way to Southampton for up to £25m and Eddie Nketiah finally leaving he went to join. Crystal Palace up to £30m.

However, as things stand, the only new additions to Mikel Arteta's first team have been Riccardo Calafiori and Mikel Merino, and as exciting as they are, it feels somewhat inadequate in the face of Manchester City.

Fortunately, the club themselves clearly believe they need to strengthen their forward options, with recent reports linking them with a high-profile striker who has been compared to Bukayo Saka.

According to a recent report by Mail Online, Arsenal are still interested in Bayern Munich star Kingsley Coman.

In fact, while Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal are keen to sign the player, the report claims that the Gunners are eyeing a 'final move' for the Frenchman before the window closes.

A potential price was not mentioned in the report, but earlier reports in the window suggested the Champions League winner would be available for around £34m, or even a season-long loan, which would be attractive to the North Londoners.

It would be a tough transfer to get over the line, but given Coman's incredible talent, it's worth pursuing, especially as he's been compared to Saka.

Why Coman would be a good signing and his comparison with Saka

Okay, before we get into why Coman would be a great signing for Arsenal, let's check out this comparison with club poster Saka and where he comes from.

It comes mainly from FBref, which compares players in the same positions across Europe's top five leagues, the Champions League and the Europa League. It creates a list of the ten most comparable players for each player and, this time, concludes that the Englishman is the ninth midfielder most similar to the Bayern ace.

Now, there are obvious similarities between these two internationals, such as their positions and scoring abilities, but in order to understand how FBref reached such a conclusion, you need to look at their basic numbers and those at a closer level, such as expected assists and actual assists, continuous passes received, goals per shot, short pass accuracy, balls, blocks, dribblers faced in three attacking touches, goal-creating actions and take-off percentage, all at 90.

However, while being compared to the Gunners' most important player is undoubtedly an encouraging sign and reason for the club to consider signing him, he is not the only one.

For example, one of the most important advantages of signing an “incredible” attacker, as Rio Ferdinand called him, is his flexibility.

In his career so far, the former Paris Saint-Germain has started 171 games on the left and 118 on the right. This ability to play on either side of a front three would make him such an important player for Arteta, as he can be cover for Saka one week and compete with Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli the next.

In addition, he has scored 64 goals and provided 66 assists in 296 games for Bayern over the years, which equates to an average goal involvement every 2.27 games, meaning he wouldn't just compete for the sake of competing; he would give.

Ultimately, Arsenal need to add to their attacking spending before the clock strikes 11 tomorrow night, and given his incredible ability, positional versatility, and likeness to Saka, bringing in Coman on loan or permanently would be a great idea.
