Golf Business News – Second course at Trump International Scotland to open next summer

Trump International Scotland has announced that a new championship course designed to complement the existing links will open next summer.

Designed and built to the highest standards and standards, this new course combines three different terrains to create a modern links course with Scotland's largest sand dunes, heather-clad and extensive wetlands.

Almost all of the materials used in the construction of the new course, except for the drainage and irrigation pipes, have been found on site. No bulk materials were imported and extensive testing provided sand, gravel and soil throughout the course to reduce the carbon footprint and environmental impact of construction activities.

Specializing in the construction of new links courses and the refurbishment of world-renowned courses across the UK and Europe, Golflink Evolve was appointed as the main contractor for this project.

This course is unlike any other links course ever created and exceeds all expectations. There are very few major link development sites in the world that are as good as this one.

Protecting and enhancing the natural features of the land is at the heart of the design and construction process. The course has been designed and built with great respect for the unique natural features of the site and its long-term preservation and sustainability.

Using wetlands, ponds and water harvested throughout the area, a new eco-friendly water and drainage system has been established to provide long-term sustainable irrigation for all 36 boreholes.

More than a million marram grass shoots were planted and 6 tons of marram seeds were harvested in this new course. Over 10 hectares of natural vegetation has been successfully moved allowing areas of native plants to grow and expand, with many wildlife areas flourishing within the new wetlands and dune areas.

Legends Tour player and former Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley, who visited the course earlier this year, said: “I had the pleasure of watching the new site at Trump during construction when we played the Staysure PGA Championship at Trump International this summer. I have no doubt that the addition of this new golf course will not only provide a great golf experience but also beautiful views of the North Sea from many holes. It is great to see such investment in North East Scotland to add to what is already a historic golfing destination.”
