NHL Rumors: Igor Shesterkin Will Reset the Goaltending Market
Steve Kouleas: “What's the latest on Igor Shesterkin, anything? It is very quiet on the Eastern Front.”
Dave Pagnotta: “Yeah, it was very quiet. And I think, partly by design. I mean, everybody hit the brakes and (Kevin) Weekes had a report there, and then they got (Alexis) Lafreniere last year, sorry, locked in his extension.
They have Shesterkin. They have K'Andre Miller too. So they have money to distribute. It's just a matter of how they're going to break it up. I'm sure they've also been very open about the fact that the lines of communication will remain open.
But in terms of any pull, everyone has very tight lips, which, depending on how you look at it, can mean, oh, maybe they're hunting down to do something, and they want everything zipped up, or there's not much progress or a slow pull.
NHL Rumors: New York Rangers and Igor Shesterkin Don't Want Contract to Be a Distraction
I mean, until somebody talks or says something to anybody, it's kind of like you have to, you have to wait. And I think, it's kind of speculative to some degree, but there's no question that he's very important to the New York Rangers. It's just a matter of getting that number out. I still think it will be around that 12 million AAV mark. That's what he pushed for.
Let's see. I think a lot of that depends on the words. I saw a situation where they didn't reach 8, but you can see it in the games as well.”
