NHL Rumors: Philadelphia Flyers, Buffalo Sabers, and New York Rangers

The Philadelphia Flyers should be interested in Dylan Cozens

Sam Carchidi of Hockey News: If the Buffalo Sabers are looking to make a major trade and center Dylan Cozens is available, the Philadelphia Flyers should be interested. He has been playing on the wing but is a natural centre.

The Flyers have not suffered much in their center and are in dire need of young centers.

Cozens was a 30-goal scorer two years ago. He struggles to defend himself.

Would Morgan Frost and Scott Laughton be enough for Cozens? What about Jamie Drysdale and Laughton? The Flyers may need the Sabers to retain some salary since they don't have much cap space.

NHL Injuries: Ducks, Avs, Blue Jackets, Stars, Devils, Rangers, Senators and Maple Leafs

Who can follow the New York Rangers and who is left

Arthur Staple of the Athletic: So the New York Rangers traded for Jacob Trouba and Kaapo Kakko but GM Chris Drury may want to make other moves. Who might be on top?

Most likely to be moved – Jimmy Vesey, Ryan Lindgren, Reilly Smith and William Borgen.

  • Vesey is a pending UFA and has already been traded.
  • They could wait until closer to the deadline to extend Lindgren's return.
  • The Rangers should retain salary for Smith to help recoup the second round pick they gave him.
  • They could flip Borgen for a second-round pick if things don't go well.

Less likely, but still possible – K'Andre Miller, Filip Chytil, Zac Jones, and Chris Kreider.

  • Miller is a pending RFA currently at $3.872 million and will seek a deal. He is not having a good season and is on IR.
  • Chytil is on a reasonable contract but there will always be concerns about conflict.
  • Jones is only 24 years old and is a pending RFA and is no reason to move him.
  • Kreider, 33, has two years left at $6.5 million and would like to retire as a Ranger.

NHL rumors: Elias Pettersson or JT Miller?

The chances are very small but you never know – Mika Zibanejad

  • He has five years left on his contract and is having a bad season. Zibanejad will have to withdraw his opposition to the move and there has been no indication that he will do so.

Not going anywhere – Jonathan Quick, Igor Shesterkin, Alexis Lafreniere, Artemi Panarin, Vincent Trocheck, Will Cuylle, Brett Berard, Adam Edstrom, Adam Fox, Braden Schneider and Victor Mancini.
