The future of Everton Football Club is not yet known, as the long takeover by 777 partners shows no signs of ending.
The Toffees have endured a terrible spell over the past few seasons and have almost been relegated in the last two seasons.
Ahead of their move from Goodison Park to a brand new, state-of-the-art stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock, the club appear to be mired in a debt crisis that will make life difficult when it comes to transfers.
Of course, if Sean Dyche, or whoever comes to the club to replace him, doesn't have the money to spend, the Toffees won't have a team worthy of such a wonderful new home.
Everton are unlikely to be taken by 777 partners
The last thing the club needs is relegation to the Championship but if things don't change soon, something is possible.
The former Premier League producer, Jon Smith, does not believe that a takeover will ever be done with 777 Partners, although he has sounded a positive note on the Toffees.
“777 Partners has a lot of baggage that seems to shine in all the wrong places at the wrong time,” he told CaughtOffside in his exclusive column.
“That is now starting to enter the minds of people who should be on their side as in the Premier League, and this can indicate that this is a problematic position for them to continue to develop.
“The good thing is that Everton fans may have given them a way out because at the recent AGM the fans expressed their concerns about the 777.
“That would be the kicker for 777 to say 'look, the fans don't want us now, they're obviously the heartbeat of the club so we're not going to be there anymore.'
“MSP Sports Capital is a company that seems to be around Everton at the moment and they will be there. I know the numbers by the way, and they are big; into eight/nine figures, and I think there will have to be a lot of potential Russian writing to find the right owners in the area.
“Everton will not go down. If they had gone down I think they would have had to go into administration, ironically, which might have been the best solution. Don't try to tell that to someone with blue in their veins.
“They are an amazing team with a great history, great players and great support and I'll put my neck on the line and say I think the takeover of the 777 is unlikely to happen now.
“Everton is big enough to attract a lot of money, so if I were Moshiri, I would do what I do best at the moment and not do anything because I think there will be a lot of interest from other teams.”
One of England's top flight teams, the glory days of the Howard Kendall era seem long gone now.
The club's ownership needs to accept the criticism that has often come their way of late, and do what the organization and its loyal supporters deserve.
For Everton to even come close to entering administration means the seriousness of its situation, and it shows that if the ownership does not seem to have the interests of the club at heart, any club is at risk of financial penalties and the power to move close to the wind in terms of going out of business altogether.
