The two main players for the Lakers coach role have already appeared, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski as the LA search ramps up this week.
The player who has been in for a long time spoke at length about the two names that have been considered when the team is looking for a replacement for Darwin Ham.

James Borrego, a senior assistant in New Orleans, moved from [ranked] 21, 22 cases in the league last year were the top ten cases,” said Woj. “…Borrego ran his head coach in Charlotte from 23 to 33 to 43 wins. “The other person who didn't train, is my partner here ESPN, JJ Redick. He's definitely someone the Lakers are looking down on, making calls and trying to get a feel for what head coach JJ Redick is going to look like.”
Wojnarowski said at the moment ESPN analyst JJ Redick is watched by the team very closely.
“…one name the Lakers have been pushing for in their initial search here: JJ Redick, a partner at ESPN. He is definitely someone the Lakers are interested in. They have been making many phone calls trying to learn more about him. But expect this to be an extensive and lengthy search.”

Some of the NBA's top assistant coaches are considered, Athletic's Jovan Buha recently reported.
These include Micah Nori (Minnesota), David Adelman (Denver), Sean Sweeney (Dallas), and Chris Quinn (Miami).
Former Warriors assistant and Nets coach Kenny Atkinson is now the betting favorite to take over the Lakers' top job.
