It shows a marked improvement from their 12th-placed finish last season and it looks like the former Argentine is getting a good feel for his players.

They have won their last four games in the top flight and are playing fluent football on the pitch under Pochettino.

Speaking at a press conference before the game, he said: “After the game, things happen, they will come, if it's not a problem. I will show respect to the fans. We always try to be very respectful.

“We understand very well in this business that the fans are the best thing in the football club and they have the right to express their opinions in different ways.

“You have to be respectful. We are here for them.

“See [the fans] we need to rely on ourselves. The way they can trust us is the results because the process and the work we do internally is difficult for them to analyze because they don't know what we do every day.

“It is important to have the support of the owners, they are the managers. It is the best for the team, the players and the fans.

“We know very well that coaches are always judged by results in a very short period of time.”

Chelsea will likely compete against Tottenham in next season's Europa League, a competition the Blues have been successful in.

Pochettino has admitted it is very important for the club to play in the European competition, but admits it will be difficult to beat Bournemouth on the final day.

He added: “It's really important to finish the way we're doing now and I think about the confidence and the way we've been playing for the last few months.

“It is very important for the team, for the players, that the club is close to achieving one of our goals – to play in Europe next season.

“I think the most important thing now is to continue doing and try to ensure that we will compete in the best possible way.

“It will be a very difficult game because Bournemouth are doing very well.”
