Scottie Scheffler charged with reckless driving after trying to avoid traffic delays at Valhalla – Golf News

Professional champion Scottie Scheffler was released by Louisville Metropolitan Police after being arrested on his way to his second round at Valhalla Golf Club in Kentucky early this morning (Friday).

The World No.1 was arrested and subsequently charged with second-degree assault on a police officer, criminal mischief, reckless driving and disregarding the signals of a traffic officer.

According to eyewitnesses, it is understood that Scheffler was driving to this school in the morning when he was hit by traffic after a separate and unrelated incident outside the club where the bus he was traveling in hit and killed a pedestrian.
Scheffler tried to drive past the crash to get to the course but was stopped by a police officer who tried to attach himself to Scheffler's car.

According to local reports, Scheffler's arrest was caused by continuing to drive when he was asked to stop, and his car was pulled over by a police officer a few meters before he stopped and was ordered to get out.

World No.1 did so and shoved the policeman into the car before handcuffing him and drove him to the nearest police station where he was charged and then released.

Scheffler, who shot a first-round 67 at Valhalla on Thursday, was due to tee off in his second round at 8.48am (1.48pm UK time) before a bus accident delayed play by 80 minutes.
