Alexis Mac Allister reveals thoughts on Real Madrid links
Alexis Mac Allister has hit back at rumors linking him with Real Madrid, saying he is “very happy” at Liverpool.
The midfielder moved to Anfield in the summer of 2023 after enjoying a successful spell at Brighton & Hove Albion. He quickly became a key figure in Jurgen Klopp's final year with the Reds, scoring seven goals and as many assists in all competitions.
Normally a central midfielder, Mac Allister has shown versatility in a Liverpool shirt, often playing as a number six to fill the gap left by Jordan Henderson and the departure of Fabinho.
Reports in Argentina have named Mac Allister as Madrid's target, with links growing following news that Toni Kroos will retire after Euro 2024 this summer.
But, it looks like Mac Allister has just started at Liverpool, opting to close any links with the La Liga club.
Talking to ESPN Argentina after contacting his national team, Mac Allister said: “I don't talk about thoughts, I'm very happy at Liverpool.”
While a move to recent La Liga winners Madrid may seem attractive, closer to home there is plenty to look forward to, as Liverpool welcome new manager Arne Slot.
It is believed that Slott will value Mac Allister as a key member of the squad, especially with the uncertainty surrounding the futures of regular starters Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Reports suggest Liverpool will be in the market for a new midfielder this summer to work with Mac Allister, with Atalanta's Teun Koopmeiners and Benfica's Orkun Kokcu among those linked with a move to Anfield.
