Newcastle are keen to sell the winger to Everton this summer

Everton are eyeing a summer move for promising Newcastle United winger Yankuba Minteh, according to reports.

The 19-year-old joined the Magpies from Danish side OB for £6m last summer before being loaned out to Feyenoord.

Minteh excelled with the Dutch giants, scoring 11 goals – including one in the Champions League – and providing six assists in all competitions to help the Rotterdam side finish second in the Eredivisie and lift the KNVB trophy.

The Gambian player caught the attention of Newcastle boss Eddie Howe.

“I've been watching him a lot,” Howe said of Minteh in April (via ChronicleLive), adding: “I think he's done really well and tackled the challenge of going solo, a new league, new team-mates and he's played in the Champions League.

“I think he has done very well this year and he can be proud of his efforts.”

Everton have 'posted an interest' in Minteh

Minteh highlighted the Premier League as his main goal, but admitted he did not know if that would be with Newcastle United or another club.

Given the current finances at Newcastle, and the fitness of the likes of Anthony Gordon and Miguel Almiron, Minteh may have to seek pastures new if he wants a long-term job in England's top flight.

According to a report by the Daily Mail, Everton have been impressed by Minteh's form in the Netherlands and are already 'interested' in the midfielder.

A big financial blow for the Toffees after being stripped of eight points this season for breaching the Premier League's spending rules.

Everton are still not out of hot water when it comes to their financial situation, so Sean Dyche may be limited in what he can spend this summer.

According to the same report, however, Newcastle remain keen on Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, perhaps creating a dynamic in talks, although it is understood the Magpies are set to battle Manchester United and Chelsea for Crystal Palace star Michael Olise this summer. .
