Golf Business News – Direct Golf Holidays throw support behind the Golf Foundation's school initiative

Golf Holidays Direct has announced an extended partnership to support the Golf Foundation's Unleash Your Drive in Schools programme.

Professional golfers held a special fundraising event at their latest Masters tour, where they managed to raise £5,700 for the Golf Foundation.

The campaign, which was launched last September, is led by Golf Foundation President Nick Dougherty, and aims to change the state of mental health in primary schools by introducing a specially developed mental fitness golf programme.

The six-week program can be delivered by teachers through digital resources, and uses specially adapted Golfway tools to teach fun and engaging games with mental fitness tools embedded throughout, to prepare students for life in and out of the classroom.

Early research has shown a 19% increase in mental well-being among those who have participated in the program, with concentration, self-confidence, emotional control and determination all areas seeing improvement.

More than 700 schools have registered their interest in the Unleash Your Drive in Schools program so far. As part of the programme, the Golf Foundation wants to provide the program as a fully funded donation to those who need it most – which is where the Golf Holidays Direct donation will be put to use.

“Golf Holidays Direct is delighted to be working with the Golf Foundation on this fantastic initiative,” said Lewis Remington, Managing Director of Golf Holidays Direct. “We want to help the Foundation not only help grow the game of golf, but more importantly help thousands of young people across the UK have access to the game in their own community.”

Brendon Pyle, CEO of the Golf Foundation, added: “We are very grateful to Golf Holidays Direct for the hard work they have done to raise these important funds for us. When they saw our campaign launched in September, they asked how they could help. What they have delivered far exceeds our expectations, and will greatly assist us in bringing golf to more young people from all backgrounds. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this event.”

If you want to support the program and be in with a chance of winning one of three spots in the BMW PGA Championship Pro-Am at Wentworth this year, all you have to do is play golf in May and register your score and donation. at the Golf Foundation.
