Chelsea 'close' on first signing under Enzo Maresca
Chelsea are close to completing a deal to sign defender Tosin Adarabioyo on a free transfer, according to a report.
Tosin will be available on a free transfer as he nears the end of his contract with west London neighbors Fulham, and had been in talks with Newcastle United before Chelsea agreed a deal.
In accordance with Fabrizio RomanoThe Blues are now front-runners for Tosin's signing and have sealed a deal to make the 26-year-old his first signing under incoming boss Enzo Maresca, whose move to Stamford Bridge is nearing completion.
A deal for Tosin has yet to be finalized but Chelsea are moving in the right direction and are hoping to add a central midfielder to their current crop.
Tosin has joined Manchester City's academy and will look to measure Chelsea's home-grown players, which could be particularly useful with Trevoh Chalobah still available for transfer.
Despite an impressive end to the season, Chalobah's status as a schoolboy makes him a marketable commodity for those in charge at Stamford Bridge, who are also keen on Conor Gallagher for similar financial reasons.
Rivals such as Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have both been linked with Chalobah, who has four years left on his contract.
Chelsea are already well stocked at fullback where, apart from Tosin and Chalobah, they can call on Axel Disasi, Benoit Badiashile, Levi Colwill and the returning Wesley Fofana. The latter did not play at all in 2023/24 after suffering a serious knee injury but is expected to be available for pre-season.
