Newcastle are now considering selling the winger to Liverpool in a £40m deal
According to recent reports, Liverpool have shown interest in signing Newcastle United winger Yankuba Minteh.
Minteh, who joined Newcastle from Danish side Odense last summer, played on loan at Feyenoord last season, contributing five assists and 10 goals in 27 games for Arne Slot's Eredivisie side.
In the summer transfer window, Newcastle may need to sell players early to meet the Premier League's Profitability and Sustainability Regulations.
According to The Telegraph, the Magpies have decided that, despite Minteh enjoying success on loan at Feyenoord last season, they will reluctantly accept bids of around £40 million for him.
Premier League giants Liverpool, as well as German and Italian clubs have shown interest in the player's services.
Given that Jurgen Klopp has been replaced at Anfield by former Feyenoord boss Arne Slot, Liverpool's interest in the player makes sense.
The 45-year-old Dutchman, who has worked with the Gambian throughout his successful season in Rotterdam, is thought to believe Minteh has the potential to rank among Europe's best young strikers.
Slot managed to get the best out of the young winger and he feels at Liverpool that the player can be useful and help the team in wide areas and produce an important result in the final third.

Liverpool's new manager will want to bring in players of his own choice, players he feels fit his footballing philosophy and it seems that Newcastle United player Minteh falls into that category.
Minteh plays mostly on the right-back, a position Eddie Howe is determined to strengthen this summer.
However, Newcastle are looking for an experienced player while Minteh is still young and is seen as a bright prospect for the future.
