It hasn't been the best of seasons for Barcelona or Atletico Madrid, so the summer transfer market represents a good time for the Spanish giants to scout and see what talent is available to strengthen their squads.
The Catalans, after winning the league last season, have been a shadow of themselves for many in the 2023/24 campaign, and currently find themselves 17 points behind champions Real Madrid, with three games to play.
The Vitor Roque/Joao Felix swap deal is on hold
Atleti are six points back and have enjoyed cheating for large parts of the season.
Joao Felix was loaned to Barca by the Rojiblancos and has scored some important goals this season, not least in both games against his parent club.
However, the Portuguese can't keep up and can find himself on the bench, even in big games.
He is always joined there by winter signing Vitor Roque, who has not done anything since signing.
'Tigrinho' as he is known in Brazil, has not been given much of a chance to impress Xavi, although he has been disappointing since he was released.
According to Fichajes, the possibility of a swap between the two is there, and that would mean Atleti finally offloaded Joao Felix, while Barca could erase what was their transfer mistake.
It is not clear who will have to carry the can to bring the youngster to Catalonia, although the accusation of separatism may be a futile exercise again.
What has been done is over, and the hope is that both clubs can still make the most of the transfer situations they may not have expected.
