Courtois sheds light on injury woes ahead of Wembley game
The goalkeeper of Real Madrid, Thibaut Courtois, admitted that he was not sure if he would be able to return to the final of the Champions League.
The Belgian stopper suffered an ACL injury before the start of the 2023-24 season but after nine months of hard work, he is finally back to full fitness.
Videos have been released of the 32-year-old crying out in pain at Madrid's training ground after the foul and was described by his team-mates as 'unlike anything they've ever felt.'
The day after the incident, Courtois began a journey to recover it before the end of the season.
He may have missed most of his side's run to the LaLiga title, but he is expected to start in the final at Wembley on Saturday.
It just so happened that the goalkeeper tore a muscle in his other knee, he beat him and dispelled the fear that his campaign was over.

But he has managed to play four times since his injury in August, starting with the match against Cadiz on May 4.
Speaking to The Guardian, he said: “With the first injury, I knew I would be able to play in May. In the second, I wasn't sure I was going to get the game.
“Finally they are four and I feel very happy, I am a very happy man.
“My victory is that I played these four and I am in the finals.”
Courtois also started on the last day of the season against Real Betis and before that against Alaves.
He was busier in goal than he expected, but he later admitted that he needs to deal with some serious shots to see where his legs are.
Thankfully, he has come through the other side and will get the chance to lift his second Champions League trophy, if Madrid can beat Borussia Dortmund.
He continued: “Two or three months ago I was not thinking, but I am 100% and I am in the hands of the manager, I am here to help the team.
“If you are injured, you must always show on the field that you are the same as before, you must work hard for that.
“We have done that. Now I'm happy, fast, I'm going well. I train well, I feel good. There is no doubt.”

There is every chance that Courtois will be the hero this weekend and win his team a game, similar to their last victory in the final.
The Europa Conference League went to penalties on Wednesday and historically no more goals have been allowed in the last two meetings.
