Golf Business News – Redexim's Turf Tidy does the trick at Craigielaw

The Turf Tidy 3000 has become the latest addition to Redexim's rapidly growing fleet at Craigielaw Golf Club in Scotland.

Delivered with both a flail and scarifier shaft in April, Turf Tidy is already delivering effective fairway scarification and rough management to the East Lothian area.

Described as a 'golfer's paradise', the 18-hole Championship Links course is one of 22 that make up Scotland's Golf Coast. In charge of maintenance, along with a team of six, is Greenkeeper Manager Paul Hay, who says: “We had a scarifier and rough cutter but that wasn't giving us the results we wanted so we got in touch with Henderson. Grass Machinery, along with Allen Whellan at Redexim, gave us a demonstration of Turf Tidy.

“From the beginning, it was amazing – the floating head is well managed and collected in our worst areas. In addition, we saw how the unit will work in reducing the fairways, leaving a good finish and returning the playing surface quickly.”

Paul adds: “Since the launch, we have disturbed a number of areas on selected roads to remove grass and lateral growth with good, clean results. In the winter, we are already planning to use Turf Tidy to reduce the rough, remove some of the congestion and remove unwanted green which will bring many benefits to both the course and the players alike. “

The Turf Tidy joins the Redexim Multiseeder 1200 and Verti-Drain 7316 in Craigielaw's fleet, both of which have been installed by Henderson in recent years.

“The Multseeder was very popular,” said Paul. “We are entering the third year that we have this machine that is used in green areas, roads, streets and certain areas of roads. It is an incredibly versatile dimple seed, which we can quickly and easily adjust to suit soil conditions or seed type. We are currently working on putting more fescue in our playgrounds so we are using a single roller Multseeder which is working well for us.”

“The delivery of the Verti-Drain 7316 was incredibly timely, arriving just before winter which meant we could get through the range, vegetation and paths before the worst of the weather arrived.”

Paul concludes, “We should know what to expect with Redexim equipment. Everything we have is reliable, flexible and backed by brilliant support from both the vendor and Redexim directly. We will definitely be looking to add more machines in the future.”
