Interviews: Norman Jr. Vs. Ennis Fight In Limbo

Brian Norman Jr's father, Brian Sr., says he hasn't heard from Matchroom since they were first offered a fight with IBF welterweight champion Jaron 'Boots' Ennis.

Brian Norman Sr. Requesting Radio Silence in the Matchroom

Norman Sr says he saw the message from promoter Eddie Hearn asking them to respond if they want a fight with Ennis (32-0, 29 KOs), but he has not heard anything from them since he reached out. He says he was surprised that Matchroom's lawyers didn't know he sent a counter offer because Hearn said they rejected 2 offers. Norman Sr says that didn't happen.

Some people believe that Hearn does not want Boots to fight the dangerous WBO welterweight champion Norman Jr. (26-0, 20 KOs) because he has decided that he wants to schedule a mandatory rematch to beat the IBF. Karen Chukhadzhian the next, which is a much easier battle with less danger.

That match would do nothing to increase Boot Ennis' star in the US and would not help him achieve his goal of becoming an undisputed figure. It's safe, though. Buthi is 27 years old now, and he can't waste time taking years off his career trying to consolidate the welterweight division if he's dealing with a headache during negotiations.

Confusion and Misinformation

“I want to give you an update on the Boot war on our side. I try to be as transparent as possible about Boots & Bozy and his team. “I contacted him after Eddie Hearn did his interview yesterday,” said Brian Norman Sr. on the Fighthype YouTube channel, talking about his efforts to fight the fight between his son, Norman Jr., and IBF welterweight champion Jaron 'Boots' Ennis. .

“We immediately reached out to Matchroom's lawyers, they are the ones who sent the request, and we asked, 'What is this about us rejecting two offers?' Matchroom's lawyers came up and said, 'Oh, we didn't notice you sent back a counter offer,' which I find hard to believe because how can you say we've rejected anything when you've never looked at the response to your request?”

There seems to be a bit of confusion with Matchroom regarding the conversations between Ennis and Norman. Are they frustrated or just don't want to fight Norman? If they prefer Boots to fight again with Karen, it makes sense for them to stop negotiations with Norman.

Does Matchroom Avoid Fighting?

“The first request was funny, but the second one was close. We can work on that a little bit. So, anyway, we asked, 'Was that your last promise?' There has been no response since. “Eddie Hearn said Brian Norman, my son and I told him to approach him soon to do this,” Brian Sr. said.

What Norman Jr. said. it doesn't sound good. If this is going to be the norm for how all of Boot Ennis' negotiations will go as he tries to unify the welterweight division, he should move up to 154 and give up his goal. He doesn't need bs sitting idle or wasting time fighting guys like Karen or David Avanesyan.

“That's exactly what we did. It has been seven days since the first contract was sent,” said Norman Sr. “I know they work on Saturdays. I know they wake up on Saturday. It's 4 o'clock next Saturday, and we're waiting to see what happens.

“And, with all due respect to Team Ennis, we're all on board with it. We have nothing but love for it. We hope people don't think about all that [stuff] it was rah-rah towards them. None of that. We want smoke in the ring. It has nothing to do with being human. Bozy did not refuse the war; let me make that clear. “The boots didn't stop the fight,” said Norman Sr.

If Hearn doesn't want Boots to fight Norman, it makes sense that negotiations are on hold. A rematch with Karen or whoever else Hearn would like Boots to fight is pretty easy—perhaps one of Hearn's British fighters, like Conor Benn.

Norman Sr. Always Optimistic

“I don't think anyone is lying. I just think it's a bunch of misinformation going around, but right now, it seems like it is [nonsense] wandering because we clearly reached out and said, 'What is your last offering?' That was 24 hours. No one said anything,” said Norman Sr.

“So, if you don't answer, you don't know that we sent an offer. Then we asked you, 'What is your offering?' And we say, 'What's your last gift? You don't say anything. That sounds like fishing. So, I reached out to Bozy to let him know what was going on.

“I think he's going to do what he's doing in the end, and we're going to do what we're doing this time to make it the best fight the fans can see at 147,” Norman Sr. said.
