NHL rumors: Linus Ullmark, and Martin Necas

Could the Chicago Blackhawks be interested in Linus Ullmark?

Scott Athletic Power: (mailbag) If the Chicago Blackhawks are looking to be more competitive next season, they will need an upgrade at No. 2 behind Petr Mrazek. Arvid Soderblom is the current No. 2 as Jaxson Stauber and Drew Commesso may not be ready yet.

Don't think they will be interested in someone like Linus Ullmark as that would prevent any chances of Soderblom or Commesso playing next year. Ullmark is likely worth at least an early draft pick and could only be a one-year rental. The Blackhawks probably don't like that situation. They will need to find a veteran goaltender, perhaps someone like Calvin Pickard.

Are the Vancouver Canucks interested in Carolina Hurricanes Martin Necas?

Friedman: “And (Martin) Necas is a big one. And you know I got a call this morning. I think there's something to this, and I'm sure you're not alone but I think there's something to Vancouver. I agree. I think that, I think the Canucks like the player.

I like that I said, I don't like, I don't think they are the only ones. I think Carolina will have options here. But you know, you heard about Patrick Allvin yesterday talking about, you know, what they were watching.

And you know, Necas from a pure hockey perspective, forget about the contract for a second because Vancouver has hoops to jump through. “

Marek: “Yes.”

Friedman: “I see that as appropriate. I know and I think it's something the Canucks are at least looking at.
