Chelsea boss' top target now is £100,000-p/w star Maresca

Chelsea's top target in the 2024 summer window has been revealed as a £100,00-a-week player, according to reports.

Chelsea transfer rumours

A new era at Chelsea began last week when the Blues announced Enzo Maresca as their new manager, with the Italian penning a five-year deal at Stamford Bridge, including the option of another year.

The Blues are one of many Premier League clubs vying for his signature.

The Italian replaced Mauricio Pochettino in the dugout after the Argentinian finished 6th in the Premier League last season and went winless. Although Maresca officially joined the club last week, work has already begun behind the scenes regarding the transfer.

The main asset has signed Tosin Adarabioyo on a four-year deal following a free transfer from Fulham but he is not expected to be the only player through the door at Stamford Bridge this summer. Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Dayot Upamecano from Bayern Munich in the current window.

Elsewhere, the Blues are said to be eyeing a swoop for Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin. Also, in a potentially huge deal, Chelsea are reportedly set to make a bid for Manchester City's Julian Alvarez in the next few days.

However, one of the top players who have been said to have moved to west London this summer is Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise. Chelsea's interest in the English-born talent is well-documented at this point, with reports last week claiming manager Joe Shields is the “exciter” leading the Eagles star, and new boss Maresca is confident the transfer will be completed. .

Now, there has been a new update regarding Chelsea's interest in the 22-year-old. The update comes via GIVEMESPORT, who report that Olise is now the club's top target in the 2024 summer transfer window.

Olise, who currently earns £100,000-a-week on a contract that runs until 2027, moved to Selhurst Park from Reading in 2021 and has received high praise during his time in east London. Former Palace manager Roy Hodgson praised Olise after he set up three goals for his teammates in Palace's win at Elland Road last year.

“In the first half, he was a player on the right but he was not creating chances or showing aggression in his play. In the second half everything went well in defense and attack and he showed that he is a great player,” Hodgson said.

“I have seen him for 10 days which is less than I have seen others. What I do about him is that I think he has a lot of talent – he has a good chance to have a good career and a good future. We can only hope that we at Crystal Palace can give him that platform. ”

Last season, the goalscorer performed well under Oliver Glasner, scoring 10 goals and assisting nine in 19 league games.

Such good form has seen the likes of Manchester City and Manchester United also show interest in Olise, but a report from GMS claims that Chelsea believe they have the upper hand over other clubs in the race to sign the wide man.
