NHL Rumors: Philadelphia Flyers, Edmonton Oilers, and Boston Bruins

Will Oliver Wahlstrom be back with the New York Islanders next season?

Andrew Gross: Islanders awaited RFA forward Oliver Wahlstrom when asked if he thinks he will return with the team next season: “We'll see. We'll see.”

Wahlstrom said he has been out of the knee for about six weeks and feels 100 percent.

Other potential free agent options for the Montreal Canadiens

Marco D'Amico of Montreal Hockey Now: The Montreal Canadiens still need to put the pieces together this offseason and should look to add a veteran front nine.

They will have bonus overrides but ultimately they will have salary cap space to work with. The Canadiens have pending RFAs in Arber Xhekaj, Justin Barron and Jesse Ylönen and UFAs in Chris Wideman, Colin White and Tanner Pearson. Their UFAs are not expected to return.

The Canadiens won't be among big names like Sam Reinhart or Jake Guentzel, but there are some free agents who could make some sense.

Teuvo Teravainen – Carolina Hurricanes – Will be looking for something big but if that doesn't happen the Canadiens could make a temporary offer.

Steven Stamkos – Tampa Bay Lightning – Reunion with Martin St. Louis. He won't look for much time.

NHL Rumors: Will Tampa Bay Lightning Make Steven Stamkos Offer Below Market But Good Enough?

Jonathan Marchessault – Vegas Golden Knights – Coming off a 40 goal season and hails from Quebec. A short-term deal would cost less than Stamkos.
