Golf Business News – PGA unveils latest Excel awards

Daniel Grieve, Director of Golf at Woburn Golf Club, is among the latest PGA Excel awardees to receive a new membership designation through the PGA's assessment framework – as he now joins an exclusive group of PGA Members with Professional status.

The PGA Excel Awards are presented quarterly and after this evaluation period, the PGA is pleased to announce five PGA Members who have been awarded a new designation in their membership category of PGA Professional, PGA Coach and PGA Manager.

The following PGA members were awarded in the following categories:

Senior Coach – Daniel Grieve – Head Coach at DG Golf Pro/Woburn Golf Club

Advanced Partner Manager – Paul Deeprose – Club Manager at Wells Golf Club, Somerset

Work Friend
Matthew Dearden – PGA Club Professional at Golf Lab Coaching
Ben Derbyshire – Head of Golf / Director of Golf at Vale Royal Abbey Golf Club

Advanced Trainer – Matthew Rees – Director of Instruction/Coaching at Trefloyne Manor/MTR Golf Performance

Speaking about becoming only the 64th PGA member to achieve Master status, Daniel Grieve said: “I am delighted to receive this prestigious award. Adding my name to the list of other famous and respected professionals is indeed a great honor. Since joining the PGA in 2000 I have been looking to learn, research and develop myself both as a person and as a coach. The PGA gave me a platform to do this and I would encourage all PGA Professionals to improve their skills and use the PGA facilities to learn as much as possible.

“The PGA qualification is respected around the world and if you can improve your PGA reputation, it will help you to further your career and gain more respect from clients and peers in the golf industry.”

Tristan Crew, PGA Executive Director – Membership, said: “Congratulations to all five PGA Members who have achieved their new designation through PGA Excel. I am always impressed by the breadth and depth of contributions our Members make throughout the golf industry and I am pleased to see their impact through the awarding of PGA senior positions. Common to all five of these members is their desire to continue to improve and advance their activities.

“The PGA's ability to recognize their significant achievements is at the heart of PGA Excel. We are seeing increasing numbers of PGA Members starting their PGA Excel applications and the feedback we always get from those who have completed the program is that, although it can be challenging, it is very important to reflect on their careers to date and provide focus or encouragement to plan and develop careers in the future.”
